Urbandale resident wins NASA Mars Challenge competition
October 9 2015 - For Urbandale resident Pierre Blosse, life on Earth is nice, but finite. As a life-long space lover and plant biology expert, the 29-year-old was intrigued by NASAs recent Mars challenge, which called on the public to submit their ideas on how to establish continuous human life on the red planet. For a while, he was thinking about the usage of micro-algae chlorella as a food source, but NASA's competition prompted him to get to work and make something happen.
NASA Announces Winners for Mars Challenge on Achieving Earth Independence
October 5 2015 - NASA invited the public to submit their ideas for developing the elements necessary to establish a continuous human presence on Mars, with an ever decreasing need to be reliant on Earth, approaching Earth independence. Participants were encouraged to consider innovative and creative elements necessary to maintain a permanent human presence in deep space.
