A voice for families.
A vision for Des Moines.

Des Moines is a city full of potential. As a scientist, entrepreneur, and the father of two young children, I am passionate about building a stronger future for our city.

I am running to achieve three key goals: to provide a safe and welcoming place for young families, to stabilize the city's budget and grow its economy, and to protect its unique environment.

Through my work as the Vice President of the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, I have seen how strong partnerships can make our city better. I’m committed to bringing new energy, innovation, and a voice for families to the Council.

Provide a safe and welcoming place for young families

Today, nearly a quarter of Des Moines residents are under 18. Yet families with young children are not represented in our city leadership.

I will advocate for more parks, playgrounds, sports fields, after-school programs, and STEM opportunities to help our kids thrive. We must create a city that is safe, welcoming, and enriching for the next generation.

Stabilize the budget and bring in new revenue sources

Des Moines faces significant financial challenges,  with the reserve fund dropping by half in two years. We must act now to rebuild our savings without raising taxes or slashing essential city services.

Instead, I will focus on growing revenue by revitalizing our waterfront into a vibrant destination and capturing more economic opportunities.

Protect our unique environment

Des Moines is home to six miles of beautiful Puget Sound coastline, supporting diverse wildlife and serving as a natural treasure for our community. For both the health of our environment and the well-being of our residents, we must protect this precious resource.

I will advocate for air, water, and noise pollution monitoring throughout the city so we can clearly understand the challenges we face.  Des Moines should set an ambitious but achievable goal: becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
